Should swimming be compulsory for college students?

Swimming lessons should be compulsory. They should start from elementary school. Being able to swim is an essential life-saving skill. Each summer we hear devastating news of a child drowning in a lake or river. The lessons could prevent the recurrence of such tragedies.
