Xihe village in Henan province has received over 700,000 visitors in the latest four years, with revenue reaching 17 million yuan ($2.67 million), thanks to efforts to stimulate rural tourism. In 2014, the local government started developing tourism in the village, which boasts 150 residences and a long history. Since then, the village has established facilities to support tourism and also encouraged villagers to open restaurants and residential accommodation with local cultural characteristics.
