Editor's note: In a recent forum themed Centurial Cultural Dialogue: When Culture Meets Science, curators, scholars, and art managers shared their views on what benefits technology has brought to the museum industry as well as the protection of cultural heritages. It’s part of the fifth annual conference of the Taihu World Cultural Forum held in Beijing from Oct 17 to 19.

David Throsby, professor of Economics, Macquarie University, Australia: Technology extends ways of art creation

"Technological revolution, which happened in the last 10 to 20 years, has transformed the ways we live and the ways art is made."

He cited figures from a recent survey as saying that 75 percent of dancers in Australia use image recording devices to diversify their choreographies and 72 percent of composers use music notation software to compose music.
