The Civil Aviation Administration of China and National Health Commission have jointly issued a pilot working plan for aero-medical rescue in 12 provinces and cities, according to media reports.

Aero-medical rescue plays an important role in disaster relief work, as it provides emergency medical help for survivors of disasters. It is a new and more efficient medical aid program that aims to establish better communication and collaboration between medical and aviation institutions, in order to improve the standard and system of aero-medical rescue work.

The National Health Commission has selected 71 major hospitals that have sufficient aero-medical rescue medical staff and equipment for the pilot program, and they include Peking University People's Hospital, Pakistan-China Friendship Hospital and China-Japan Friendship Hospital.

Since aero-medical rescue requires inter-disciplinary and professional talents, the two departments have invited the China Association for Disaster and Emergency Rescue Medicine to provide professional training for medical staff in the pilot hospitals, so as to expand their aero-medical rescue service capacity and establish a standardized training procedure.

And medical institutions in other regions have been encouraged to launch aero-medical rescue services and suggest to the medical authorities how to improve them.
