YINCHUAN - A public health emergency drill was held in Northwest China to enhance the ability in tackling emergencies caused by imported acute infectious diseases as the Ebola virus broke out in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) recently.

More than 8,200 people of the country's medical system participated in the drill Thursday in Yinchuan, the capital city of Ningxia Hui autonomous region.

The drill included sessions such as case detection and early treatment, case report, patients transfer, specimen collection and epidemiological investigation.

Jointly held by the National Health Commission (NHC) and Ningxia's regional government, the drill highlights capabilities including biosecurity, medical treatment and disease prevention and control.

"The drill was good practice in preventing and resolving major risks in public health," said Shan Chunchang, head of the specialist team for emergency management with the State Council.
