Charter flights have brought over 1,500 people back home to Hubei province from overseas, Yu Biao, director of the Civil Aviation Administration's Department of Transport, said in Beijing on Thursday.
With assistance from Chinese embassies and consulates abroad and in cooperation with cultural and tourism departments, the Civil Aviation Administration had organized 12 charter flights to bring people back to Hubei since the start of the novel coronavirus outbreak in the province, he said.
"We will continue to arrange flights to bring back Chinese passengers still stranded abroad," Yu said.
