Heilongjiang reports 28 new confirmed cases, Jilin nine






Northeast China's Heilongjiang province recorded 28 new locally transmitted confirmed cases of COVID-19 and eight asymptomatic carriers on Wednesday, the provincial health commission said on Thursday.
Data from the commission showed all the cases were found in Suihua city's Wangkui county and the provincial capital city Harbin, the two major affected areas in the recent outbreak.
As of Wednesday, the province had reported 533 confirmed cases and 543 asymptomatic carriers since Jan 10.
A total of 37 coronavirus patients have been discharged from the hospitals.
Neighboring Jilin province on Wednesday reported nine confirmed cases, driving the caseload to 303, according to the provincial health commission.
Eleven asymptomatic carriers were reported on Wednesday, bringing the total to 92.
Among the 294 cases receiving treatment in hospitals, 38 are in serious condition, the commission said.
However, Tonghua reported good news that the first four coronavirus patients in the city were discharged from the hospital on Wednesday evening.
As of Wednesday, there were 203 confirmed cases and 81 asymptomatic carriers in the city, which was heavily affected by the recent outbreak.
