Shanghai reports five new imported COVID-19 cases
Five new imported cases of COVID-19 were reported in Shanghai on Thursday, the municipal health commission announced on Friday.
One of the cases was found to be infected 11 days after completion of quarantine. The person, a Chinese who studied in New Zealand, had tested negative for the virus twice during the quarantine.
This person landed at Shanghai Pudong International Airport on March 28 and finished the 14-day quarantine on April 11. The case later developed symptoms of fever and cough and was subsequently diagnosed with COVID-19.
The commission said that the five individuals have been transferred to designated hospitals and the 165 people who came into close contact with them have been quarantined as well.
No local transmission cases were reported on Thursday.
