BEIJING -- Farm produce prices in China fell last week, according to the Ministry of Commerce.

From April 26 to May 2, the overall price of farm produces decreased by 0.1 percent on a weekly basis.

The wholesale price of pork fell 2.4 percent week on week to 30.11 yuan (about $4.8) per kg. The wholesale price of mutton went up 0.2 percent, while that of beef edged up 0.1 percent.

The wholesale price of eggs rose 1.9 percent on a weekly basis and that of chicken edged up 0.2 percent week on week.

The average wholesale prices of 30 types of vegetables fell 0.7 percent from a week earlier.

Food accounts for about one-third of China's consumer price index (CPI), a main gauge of inflation.

The CPI rose 0.4 percent year on year in March, reversing from the 0.2-percent drop in February, according to data from the National Bureau of Statistics.
