Witnesses recall tragedy of Urumqi riots

Footage of the July 5 riot, which took place in Urumqi, capital of the Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region in 2009. The riot was jointly premeditated by domestic and foreign East Turkestan separatist forces. Thousands of terrorists took to the streets of the city killing innocent people, attacking government buildings and vandalizing property. The incident left 197 people killed and more than 1,700 injured.
Fu Haixia, whose father was killed in the riot, said the pain of losing a loved one in such a brutal manner will always persist.
Liu Jie said she will never forget the fear she felt when she saw terrorists throw petrol bombs into shops during the riot.
