China urged the Philippines to stop infringing on its sovereignty following three Philippine vessels intruding into waters near Huangyan Island, Gan Yu, spokesman for the China Coast Guard, said on Sunday.

Three vessels of the Philippine Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources entered into waters near Huangyan Island on Saturday, ignoring China's repeated dissuades and warnings, he said in a statement.

The China Coast Guard took control measures following the law and regulations, Gan said.

He added that the Chinese Coast Guard operated with professionalism, adhering to standard procedures and in full compliance with the law.

He stressed that China holds indisputable sovereignty over Huangyan Island and its adjacent waters, and has sovereign rights and jurisdiction over the relevant waters, he noted.
