Chinese, Russian militaries to conduct joint exercise

Chinese and Russian militaries will conduct joint exercises near South China's Guangdong province from early to mid-July, China's Defense Ministry announced on Friday.
The ministry's spokesman, Zhang Xiaogang, told an online news briefing that according to the annual plan and bilateral agreement, the exercise Joint Sea-2024 would be carried out in the waters and airspace near Zhanjiang city, Guangdong.
"The ongoing exercise is to demonstrate the resolve and capabilities of the two sides in jointly addressing maritime security threats and preserving global and regional peace and stability," he said.
"It will further deepen the China-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership of coordination for the new era," said Zhang.
