4.9-magnitude earthquake hits Baiyu, Sichuan: CENC

A 4.9-magnitude earthquake struck the county of Baiyu in Ganzi Tibetan autonomous prefecture, Sichuan province, at 12:21 pm on Saturday, according to the China Earthquake Networks Center (CENC).
The epicenter was monitored at 30.87 degrees north latitude and 98.95 degrees east longitude, at a depth of 10 kilometers, said a report issued by the CENC.
The average elevation within a 5-km radius of the epicenter is approximately 3,897 meters, with two villages located in this vicinity.
The town of Gaiyu lies within a 20-km radius of the epicenter, while the county seat of Baiyu is about 40 km away.
