Top machinery executive faces discipline investigation
Lu Wenjun, vice-president of China First Heavy Industries, is under investigation for suspected serious violations of Communist Party discipline and national laws, the country's top anti-corruption watchdogs announced on Friday.
The Central Commission for Discipline Inspection of the Communist Party of China and the National Commission of Supervision disclosed the probe in an online statement but did not provide further details.
Founded in 1954, China First Heavy Industries is a major state-owned enterprise in the heavy machinery sector and plays a key role in national security and economic development.
According to public records, Lu, 57, is a native of Zhejiang province. He joined the Communist Party of China in 1988 and began working in 1989. He has more than 30 years of experience in China's heavy machinery industry, including a lengthy tenure at CFHI, a critical player in the country's equipment manufacturing.
Lu was appointed vice-president of the enterprise in late 2019.
