The 17th Qingdao International Sailing Week and Qingdao International Marine Festival, along with the 2nd China (Qingdao) International Marine Sports Convention, will be held from Sept 12 to 21.
The event aims to offer a high-quality outdoor sports destination through 34 cultural, sports, and business activities, including 16 regattas and one training camp.
A record-breaking number of 2,000 athletes from 30 countries and regions will compete across three core sectors: Sailing, marine sports, and beach sports — featuring disciplines such as sailboat racing, motorboating, rowing, and kayaking. Eight international and six national marine sports events are included, with new additions like a corporate sailing race.
Highlights include the Fareast Cup International Sailing Race, OP Sailing Camp and Regatta, and the ASAF Cup Qingdao International Regatta. The Asian Canoe Ocean Racing Championships will also make their debut in Qingdao.
The festival has already gained momentum with pre-events such as the Volleyball World Beach Pro Tour, the China Beach Soccer Tour, and the National Beach Rugby Tournament held this summer.
The sailing events have attracted nearly 500 participants from 66 teams representing 20 countries and regions, including the United States, Australia, and Germany, showcasing Qingdao's commitment to expanding its global sports network. Open days and youth programs will also promote public engagement, making sailing accessible to all.
