The 14th China Shengzhong Lake International Fishing Competition kicked off on Friday at the Shengzhong Lake Scenic Area in Nanbu county, Nanchong, Sichuan province, drawing 1,200 athletes from 21 countries.

Sponsored by the Nanchong city government and the China Angling Association, the annual event consists of national reservoir and pond angling competitions and an international kayak angling competition.
