China Unicom keen to lead global AI journey

Being collaborative in DNA
Xue said China Unicom has always championed AI for the greater good and for all, and is committed to deepening exchanges and collaboration with international partners to expand the benefits of technology, an approach consistent with that advocated at the top level.
For example, she noted that at the 2025 World AI Conference and High-Level Meeting on Global AI Governance in Shanghai this July, China proposed establishing a global AI cooperation organization as part of its efforts to promote open, inclusive, and equitable development and governance of AI worldwide.
"Collaboration is also in the DNA of the telecom industry, where cooperation is always a prerequisite," she said.
"No single company can build a transcontinental submarine cable on its own. Likewise, roaming, whether a user from the UK travels to China or vice versa, depends on cooperation between operators, since the last mile of connectivity can only be delivered through cross-border partnerships", Xue said.
China Unicom Europe has built a strong presence across the EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) region, with at least 12 branches and points of presence in major European countries, including Germany, France, the Netherlands, Switzerland, and Hungary.
