Djokovic has reached the quarterfinals in all 11 of his Shanghai appearances, lifting the ATP 1000 trophy a record four times.
The current world No 5 is now the highest-ranked player left in the singles draw, following the retirement of top seed Jannik Sinner in the last round.
Djokovic will meet Belgian ace Zizou Bergs in the quarters on Thursday.
The Serbian superstar is chasing a record-extending 41st ATP 1000 title and first since he won in Paris in 2023. Earlier this year, he lost in the final of the Miami tournament to rising star Jakub Mensik of Czech Republic.
