Guizhou villagers harvest kiwis in bustling orchards

At the end of September, Pingtan village in Guizhou province bustled as villagers moved through kiwi orchards to harvest the fruit.
Pingtan is the core production area for Xiuwen county's kiwi sector. By 2025, the village's kiwi planting area had reached about 800 hectares, and growers had established a scaled, standardized production system.

This year's output is expected to exceed approximately 10,000 metric tons, while the annual production value is steadily above 120 million yuan ($16.89 million), according to local media.
A new online-ordering and direct-courier model has helped the county's kiwis reach consumers across the country. Shoppers place orders on e-commerce platforms, and the fruit is packed at the village hub and shipped directly to buyers.
