A newly opened exhibition at the China Traditional Culture Museum in Beijing shows how artistic creativity can balance the natural materials of bamboo and rattan with metal, producing works that enrich living spaces.
Hundreds of objects woven with bamboo and rattan stems and integrated with metal wires — some layered with lacquer — are on show until Oct 27. They exhibit the skill and artistry of artisans from Anxi county, Quanzhou, Fujian province.
Anxi has long been known for its production of fine-quality tea. This time it has created an exhibition of its handicrafts which demonstrates the artists' skill and imagination.
