The hit spy drama Silent Honor recently concluded its broadcast on CCTV-8 and the streaming platform iQIYI, earning impressive ratings and widespread acclaim from audiences.
As the first major TV drama focused on covert intelligence operations across the Taiwan front around the founding of New China in 1949-50, Silent Honor reveals a rarely told chapter of history from a period marked by turbulence, sacrifice and faith.
"It fills a historical gap in this subject matter," said Yang Bei, executive producer of the series, in an interview with China Daily. "The true stories of martyrs such as Wu Shi and Zhu Feng, who risked their lives by entering dangerous situations, carry a powerful spiritual appeal."
