Qingdao launches winter sea gull season to boost tourism
As Shandong's 2025 winter tourism promotion starts, Qingdao inaugurated its second sea gull season on Nov 17, marking the beginning of its winter tourism campaign.
With over 1,200 travel products and 348 key events launched across the province, hundreds of thousands of seagulls have returned, inviting global visitors to explore Friendly Shandong and the charming city of Qingdao.
This year, Qingdao is turning ecological charm into lasting tourism appeal through immersive, citywide initiatives. The sea gull season features ten curated routes, themed activities, consumption scenes, and popular check-ins, alongside 160 unique winter events.
At Zhanqiao Pier, visitors enjoyed watching seagulls circling above the sea. The season, running until March 20, 2026, integrates New Year's Eve, Spring Festival, and Lantern Festival celebrations through four experiential modules — encounter, fun, enjoyment, and voice — elevating the event into a sustainable cultural tourism brand that boosts winter travel consumption.
