CPC expels former senior inspector
Wang Huimin, former head of China's top anti-graft authority's discipline inspection and supervision team sent to the China Securities Regulatory Commission, has been expelled from the Communist Party of China due to serious discipline and law violations, according to an official statement issued on Monday. The decision was made following an investigation by the CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and the National Commission of Supervision upon the approval of the CPC Central Committee, the statement issued by the CCDI and NCS revealed. The statement said he was found to have taken advantage of his posts to seek benefits for others in company listing, private placement-related financing and personnel promotion — illegally accepting large sums of money and valuables in return. According to the statement, Wang is also suspected of bribery. His illicit gains will be confiscated and his case will be transferred to procuratorial authorities for examination and prosecution in accordance with the law.
Ex-medical products official faces charges
The Supreme People's Procuratorate announced on Monday that public prosecution proceedings have been initiated against Chen Shifei, former deputy director of the National Medical Products Administration, on suspicion of bribery. The SPP said the lawsuit was recently filed by the Second Branch of the People's Procuratorate of Shanghai Municipality against Chen with the Shanghai No 2 Intermediate People's Court. The lawsuit comes after the conclusion of an investigation by the National Commission of Supervision into Chen's alleged misconduct. Chen is accused of abusing his official positions to secure benefits for others and illegally accepting an "extremely large amount" of money and valuables as bribes.
3.43m sign up for 2026 postgraduate exam
A total of 3.43 million candidates have signed up for the 2026 national postgraduate entrance exam, which is scheduled for Dec 20 and 21, the Ministry of Education said on Monday. Authorities have been mobilized to ensure the integrity and safety of the exam, the ministry said. A video conference on exam security was recently held by the ministry and member units of the inter-ministerial joint conference for national education exams. The meeting emphasized key tasks, including ensuring the safety and quality of the exam papers through comprehensive risk assessments and monitoring. Additional measures involve cracking down on cheating and creating a positive test environment. The meeting also highlighted the importance of providing considerate services for test-takers.
Four-day live-fire drill in Yellow Sea
The northern part of the Yellow Sea will host a live-fire exercise from Tuesday to Friday, according to a navigation warning from China's Maritime Safety Administration on Monday afternoon. According to the warning, issued by the Dalian maritime safety administration in Liaoning province, the drill will run from 8 am on Tuesday to 12 pm on Friday in a designated sea area. Vessels are prohibited from entering the area during that period.
