Camels trek through snow in Ningxia's Helan Mountains
Camels were seen trekking through the snow in the Helan Mountains of the Ningxia Hui autonomous region on Wednesday, presenting a stunning view of the dark mountain against a white blanket.
As a vital shield against desert expansion and cold waves, the mountain nurtures the fertile Yinchuan Plain. Camels, which were integral to the ancient Silk Road, continue to play a role in promoting cultural exchanges.
Today, camel rides and educational tours have become a highlight of Ningxia's cultural tourism economy, welcoming visitors from around the country looking to explore the Silk Road heritage.
The wintery mountain scene, known as "Helan Mountain in Clear Snow", is one of Ningxia's best-known sights. The name comes from a long-observed phenomenon in which snow lingers on the mountain's western peak even under clear skies.
