JERUSALEM - Chinese-made vehicles accounted for 81 percent of all electric vehicles (EVs) sold in Israel since January, according to data released Tuesday by the Israel Vehicle Importers Association.

From January to November, 44,752 EVs produced by Chinese automakers were sold in the country, out of a total of 55,232 EVs sold.

BYD Auto led the market with 8,069 units sold across eight electric models. It was followed by fellow Chinese brands Chery and Xpeng, each surpassing 6,000 sales during the 11-month period.

American manufacturer Tesla ranked next with 4,511 units sold, ahead of Chinese automakers Geely, Lynk & Co, Dongfeng, Maxus, Deepal, Zeekr and Seres.

In the broader vehicle market, including gasoline and hybrid models, China also led with 96,208 cars sold in the first 11 months, followed by South Korea with 51,420 and Japan with 39,592.
