LONDON - British Prime Minister David Cameron on?Sept 8?met Chinese Vice Premier Wang Qishan to discuss economic and trade cooperation between the two nations.

Cameron said China is making great contributions to the world economy, and that to develop UK-China relations is a priority of his government.

He said the two economies are highly complementary and Britain is willing to work with China in the fields of services, retail, finance and high technology.

The British side is also willing to maintain communication and coordinate positions with China through various dialogue mechanisms, said Cameron.

Both as important G20 members, he said, Britain and China should work to seek a positive outcome of the G20 Cannes Summit scheduled in November in France in promoting global economic recovery and opposing trade protectionism.

Cameron spoke highly of the positive results of the China-UK Economic and Financial Dialogue that Wang and British Chancellor of the Exchequer George Osborne co-chaired on Sept 8.

Wang, in the meeting with Cameron, said he hoped that both sides would continue to deepen cooperation in such fields as economy and trade, investment, finance and especially infrastructure construction to promote China-UK economic relations to a new height.

The vice premier said the top priority is to promote strong and sustainable economic growth in the now very complex international economic situation.

He said China appreciated Britain's stance in free trade and hoped that both sides would work to promote a healthy development of the China-UK comprehensive strategic partnership.
