Shoe workshop fire kills two, injures 3 in S. China

GUANGZHOU -- Two people died and three were injured after a shoe workshop caught fire in south China's Guangdong Province early Friday, the local government said.

The fire occurred in a shoe workshop in Huangbu Town, Huidong County, according to the local government.

Three people were injured when they jumped out of the workshop building to escape. They have been sent to hospital for treatment.

Firefighters put out the blaze at 5:46 a.m.

The cause was still being investigated.
