Ministry to set up press information office
(China Daily) Updated: 2008-01-14 07:21 The Ministry of National Defense (MND) said on Saturday that preparations are on to set up an information office which will start functioning at a "proper time". It said details are under discussion. The office will provide information on the country's national defense and military affairs for domestic and international media, the statement said. Since 2003, most central government departments and local governments have set up press briefing systems. A total of 12 departments, including the Ministry of Commerce, the State Food and Drug Administration and the Beijing Organizing Committee of the Olympic Games, started holding press conferences on a regular basis last year.
