Court in southern China's Guangdong Province Wednesday upheld the original verdicts of death and life imprisonment sentences to men involved in a toy factory brawl on June 26, which left two Uygur workers dead.

The Higher People's Court of Guangdong sustained the death penalty handed down on October 10 by the Intermediate People's Court of Shaoguan for Xiao Jianhua, who was held as the principal instigator of the fatal brawl.

Xiao's fellow worker Xu Qiqi was sentenced to a life jail term for intentional injury.

The same court also sentenced three of Xiao's accomplices to prison terms from seven to eight years on charges of assault.

Two Uygur workers from Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region -- Aximujiang Aimaiti and Sadikejiang Kaze -- were beaten to death, and three were severely injured and six slightly injured in the brawl in Shaoguan in Guangdong Province.

The local court heard the fight started after a Uygur male worker was found by other workers chasing a Han woman intern surnamed Huang in the factory.

Xiao and his accomplices used iron bars to beat the Uygur workers, and obstructed medical workers from treating the injured.
