The European Union, in a statement issued by Sweden which holds the EU's rotating presidency, condemned China's executions of nine criminals involved in the July 5 riot in Urumqi, capital of northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. It also asked China to abolish death penalty.

Qin said this is the second statement the EU had issued within half a month that severely interfered in China's internal affairs. China expresses its strong dissatisfaction with this.

China is a country under the rule of law and its judicial organizations sentence criminals by law, he said, adding that this is China's judicial sovereignty and no other party has the right to interfere.

He urged the EU not to make the same mistakes again and again.

He said the EU should abide by the policy of equality and mutual respect and do more beneficial deeds for the healthy development of bilateral relations.
