Freshmen living in classrooms in Anhui college

A college in Anhui province has arranged for freshmen to live in classrooms instead of dormitories after a dorm shortage, according to the China Youth Daily.

New students from Ma'anshan Teacher's College in Ma'anshan city posted photos of their classroom "dorms" online.

Students said more than 100 students are living in classrooms because the college enrolled too many students and does not have enough dorms.

A college official told the China Youth Daily that 183 freshmen are living in five large classrooms because of the shortage of dorms.

Usually, third-year students leave Ma'anshan for internships, leaving many beds empty. But this autumn, many have chosen internships in the city, he said.

The college will divide five large classrooms into 20 small rooms so that each room will have fewer than 10 students, he said.
