Book celebrates archaeologist's legacy

By Wang Kaihao ( chinadaily.com.cn ) Updated: 2015-11-26 16:01:00

A book reviewing an archaeology guru's life was recently published in Chinese by Beijing's SDX Joint Publishing Company.

My Father Su Bingqi, which focuses on Su's lifetime endeavors and contribution to New China's archaeology from the perspective of his son, Su Kaizhi, was released on Tuesday in the Palace Museum, also known as the Forbidden City.

Su Bingqi (1909-97) was considered to be one of the greatest archaeologists in China after 1949 for establishing an archaeology academic research and education system, which has been followed by major institutions in the country.

At a seminar on Tuesday, scholars from museums, universities and academic institutions from all over China also reviewed the development of Chinese archaeology education in the past decades.
