The Chinese Super League resumed Saturday after a 3-month break. Opening the season, Shenzhen Jianlibao overcame Shanghai Shenhua in a hard played match.

In Shanghai, a 9-men Shenghua side had to concede to a 2 nil defeat, failing to keep up their momentum. China Radio International reported Monday.

The two teams played offensive football since the kick-off, but Shenhua's No.29 was sent off near the end of the first half after booking his second yellow card.

Shanghai controlled the filed in the second half after they accelerated their attacking pace. However, the visiting Shenzhen side clinched the lead in the 76th minute with a spot kick and enlarged the gap only 3 minutes later as Shenzhen's No.29 shot in a goal at close range.

Shenhua's goalie received a red card in the 85th minute for a handball outside the penalty area.

In other matches, Beijing Hyundai was held at a one all draw with Liaoning, while Shandong Luneng struggled for a hard 1-1 tie with Qingdao Beilaite at home.
