Jiangsu province is briefly named as Su, with Nanjing as its provincial seat. Jiangsu is one of China’s most prosperous provinces. Machinery, electronics, petrochemical and automobile are pillar industries of Jiangsu. The output of machinery industry ranks top in China. Sinopec YPC and Sinopec YCF are giant petrochemical enterprises in China. Jiangsu is China’s well-known granary and also a primary production area of edible oil and cotton. In 2008, Jiangsu’s GDP totals RMB 3002.4 billion, with the first industry totaling RMB146.19 billion yuan, second industry RMB1035.5 billion yuan, and tertiary industry RMB648.91 billion. The per capita GDP is RMB 33,089.
江蘇省簡稱蘇，省會(huì)城市是南京。江蘇地處中國大陸沿海中部和長江、淮河下游，是長江三角洲地區(qū)的重要組成部分，是我國經(jīng)濟(jì)最發(fā)達(dá)的地區(qū)之一。機(jī)械、電子、石化、汽車是重要的支柱產(chǎn)業(yè)，機(jī)械工業(yè)總量為全國第一。江蘇是中國著名的魚米之鄉(xiāng)，也是國內(nèi)重要的油棉產(chǎn)地。江蘇省2008年GDP為30024億元，增幅12.5%。其中，第一、第二、第三產(chǎn)業(yè)增加值分別增長4.0 %、12.9%和12.7%。人均GDP達(dá)33089元。
Jiangsu gets its name from the old city of Jiangning and Suzhou. It is the birthplace of ancient Wuyue culture and Yangtze culture of China. Jiangsu is the transportation hub of east China, with China’s most extensive expressway network. Jiangsu also has convenient waterway transportation system, with Nanjing being China’s largest river port and Lianyungang Port as a famous seaport. Nanjing, as the provincial seat, used to be “the capital city during six ancient dynasties” and “the metropolis of ten ancient dynasties”. An important city in the Hu-Ning-Hang economic core regions and a major comprehensive industrial base in the east region of China, Nanjing has formed a comprehensive industrial system with the electronics, automobile and petrochemical as the mainstay industries.
江蘇得名于清江寧府和蘇州府二府，歷史悠久，是中國古代吳越文化和長江文化的發(fā)祥地。江蘇是華東地區(qū)的交通樞紐，公路網(wǎng)密度居全國第一，水運(yùn)發(fā)達(dá)，礦產(chǎn)資源豐富，有色金屬類、粘土類、建材和稀有金屬類、特種非金屬類礦產(chǎn)是江蘇礦產(chǎn)資源的特色和優(yōu)勢。
