Shandong Province is briefly named Lu, with Jinan as its provincial seat. Shandong is a province of strong economy in the east coastal area of China, with its ranking of economic development among the top positions of all provinces in China and a contribution to Chinese inland economy by more than 1/9. It has a full range of industry categories, with the formation of eight pillar industries: e.g. energy, textile, light industry machinery, electronics, chemical industry, metallurgy, building materials and foodstuff. Shandong’s agriculture is based mainly on the production of grain with comprehensive development of agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry, and fishery. Its main agricultural product is wheat, followed by sorghum, maize, etc. In 2008, Shandong’s GDP totaled RMB 3.10721 trillion, ranking the 3rd in China. By the end of 2008, the population of permanent residents in Shandong accounted for 94.172 million, with a per capita GDP of RMB 33,083.
山東省，簡稱魯，省會(huì)城市濟(jì)南。山東為中國東部沿海經(jīng)濟(jì)強(qiáng)省，經(jīng)濟(jì)發(fā)展居全國各省前列，對中國內(nèi)地經(jīng)濟(jì)的貢獻(xiàn)有九分之一多。工業(yè)門類齊全，已形成能源、紡織、輕工機(jī)械、電子、化工、冶金、建材、食品八大支柱產(chǎn)業(yè)。農(nóng)業(yè)以糧食生產(chǎn)為主，農(nóng)林牧漁綜合發(fā)展，小麥?zhǔn)侵饕Z食作物，其次是高粱、玉米等。2008年山東省實(shí)現(xiàn)生產(chǎn)總值 31072.1億元，位居全國第3位。2008年末常住人口9417.2萬人，人均GDP達(dá)到33083元。
The civilization of Shandong goes back to over 5000 years. During the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period, the Shandong region was ruled by the Lu State and Qi State. Shandong was the early activity center of Shang Dynasty, and the place with rich cultural ambience of Confucius and Mencius. Shandong is one of the important energy bases in the country, with Shengli Oilfield as the second largest oil base in China. Shandong has formed a comprehensive transportation system, with parallel emphasis on the development of railway, highway, aviation, waterways and pipelines. With the establishment of the transportation framework of “three vertical roads, three horizontal roads, and one ring road”, Shandon boasts the most advanced highway system of the country. The density of ports in Shandong ranks the first in the nation, with Qingdao as one of the top 5 big ports in China.
山東文明可上溯到5000多年前，春秋戰(zhàn)國時(shí)期屬魯國和齊國領(lǐng)地，曾是商朝活動(dòng)中心，又有著濃厚的孔孟文化氛圍。山東是全國重要的能源基地之一，勝利油田是中國第二大石油基地。山東已形成鐵路、公路、航空、水運(yùn)、管道并舉的綜合運(yùn)輸體系，公路交通已形成“三縱三橫一環(huán)”的總框架，為全國高速公路最發(fā)達(dá)省份；港口密度居全國之首，青島港成為中國沿海五大港口之一。
