據(jù)報道，遼寧省阜新、錦州發(fā)生禽流感疫情，當?shù)卣凑諊矣嘘P規(guī)定，組織相關部門采取了緊急免疫、封鎖、撲殺和消毒等一系列防控措施。兩地疫點周圍3公里范圍內(nèi)撲殺家禽50萬只。11月8日，中共中央政治局常委、國務院總理溫家寶前往遼寧省黑山縣檢查禽流感防控工作。

prevent the spread of the deadly virus.
Cull一詞有“挑選；精選”的意思，如：to cull the best passages from the poet's
works（叢這位詩人的作品種選出最佳段落）。報道中的cull專指“挑出（病弱動物；劣種）殺掉”、“撲殺”, 還可用作名詞，a seal cull
to reduce the population（剔除海豹予以殺戮以減少其種數(shù)量）。
Cull常用來表示“剔除”、“去除（雜質(zhì)）”，例如：to cull the spoiled berries from each
box（剔除各箱中的壞漿果）；to choose the right and cull out the
wrong（選擇正確摒棄錯誤）。
