11月11日晚，第二十九屆奧林匹克運動會吉祥物發(fā)布儀式在北京舉行。吉祥物由5個分別以魚、熊貓、奧運圣火、藏羚羊、京燕為創(chuàng)意的"中國福娃"組成。他們以“北京歡迎你”的諧音命名，分別被稱為“貝貝、晶晶、歡歡、迎迎、妮妮”。

The five friendlies were introduced as Bei Bei, Jing Jing, Huan Huan, Ying
Ying and Ni Ni - which, put together, translates to "Beijing welcomes
you!"
期待已久的奧運吉祥物終于揭曉，“吉祥物”的英文表達就是mascot，即被認為會帶來好運的人、動物的形象或物件，例如：The team had
a mountain lion as their
mascot.（這只球隊將美洲獅作為吉祥物。）
