西班牙警方5月9日起開始調(diào)查一起利用郵票進行傳銷詐騙的超級大案。據(jù)估計，西班牙約有20多萬個人投資者被卷入其中，涉案金額達5400萬歐元。

have fallen victim to an alleged pyramid selling scam involving rare postage
stamps. Armed police raided the offices of two companies in four cities on
Tuesday, seizing documents, computers and other items, sequestering the
buildings and throwing employees onto the streets.
報道中的pyramid
selling就是“傳銷”。在日常生活中，人們常用pyramid（金字塔）來形容一種“基礎(chǔ)廣闊、自下而上逐級狹窄的社會現(xiàn)象”，如：education
pyramid（教育“金字塔”） 就是指“按既定標準，通過層層篩選、淘汰，選拔出符合既定標準的精英”。
但在“傳銷”中，人們卻反其義，拿pyramid（金字塔）來形容“由上而下”而非“由下而上”的運作模式，即“用尖頂來比喻上線，基于上線，逐上而下次第發(fā)展許多下線”。
舉一個有關(guān)pyramid比喻義的例子：
A glance at the income distribution in the US shows how pointed is the income
pyramid, how broad its base.
（觀察美國的收入分配，可以看出其“金字塔”形的收入結(jié)構(gòu)，頂部有多尖，底部有多寬。）
