此次調(diào)圖，從客運(yùn)(passenger transport)市場(chǎng)來(lái)看，鐵路部門(mén)將大量增開(kāi)旅客列車(chē)(passenger trains)。新圖共安排開(kāi)行旅客列車(chē)3400多對(duì)，其中動(dòng)車(chē)組列車(chē)(bullet trains)2100多對(duì)，普速列車(chē)(trains running at normal speeds)1200多對(duì)，旅客列車(chē)較原圖增加近300對(duì)。

從貨運(yùn)(cargo transportation)來(lái)看，鐵路部門(mén)將進(jìn)一步落實(shí)國(guó)家"一帶一路"戰(zhàn)略(the Belt and Road strategy)，增開(kāi)中歐、中亞班列(cargo trains connecting China with Europe and Central Asia)，同時(shí)加快構(gòu)建貨物快捷運(yùn)輸網(wǎng)絡(luò)，以時(shí)速120公里為主的各類(lèi)貨物快速班列(high-speed cargo trains)開(kāi)行總數(shù)達(dá)251列，較原圖增加58列。

此次調(diào)圖還增開(kāi)早班與夜間動(dòng)車(chē)組列車(chē)(early and night bullet trains)，紅眼高鐵(red-eye high-speed trains)將成常態(tài)。新列車(chē)運(yùn)行圖中，圍繞滿(mǎn)足紅色旅游(red tourism)、老區(qū)旅游(tour of old revolutionary base areas)、邊疆旅游(border tourism)、家庭旅游(family travel)、休閑旅游(leisure travel)和生態(tài)、森林等特色旅游需要的旅游專(zhuān)列(tourist train)運(yùn)行線(xiàn)達(dá)69條。中國(guó)鐵路總公司表示，火車(chē)票價(jià)(train ticket prices)將保持不變。
