Star-studded Golden Rooster and Hundred Flowers Film Festival to open

The final preparations for the 24th Golden Rooster and Hundred Flowers Film Festival, in the city of Jilin, Jilin province, Sept 16-19, are almost complete, with the national fitness center, the festival's main stadium finished and volunteers selected and trained.

Chen Hongchi, a famous actress from Jilin has been chosen as image ambassador for the festival, while Chinese movie stars like Xu Zheng, Zhao Wei, Huang Bo and Tang Wei will be taking part, along with guests and media both from China and overseas. The organizers say that one notable change this year is the special film exhibition for the 70th anniversary of the victory in the Anti-Fascist War, with both Chinese and foreign films being shown along with workshops.
The film festival is held annually and is China's most influential, oldest and biggest film awards activity. This year is the 120th year that films have been shown in the world and the 110th for China.
