A special post office, which is themed around Nanxiang?Mantou, or Nanxiang?xiaolongbao, is expected to be launched in Jiading district, Shanghai in late?January, aiming to promote its intangible cultural items, local media outlets reported on Jan 3.
Situated on Jiefang Avenue in Nanxiang town, the post office can offer a range of services, such as receiving and sending express packages, as well as offering chances for people to watch the working procedures of creating Nanxiang?xiaolongbao.
Additionally, themed areas will be set up in the post office to present Jiading's intangible?cultural?heritage?items, offering visitors a chance to have close?encounters with Jiading's characteristic cultures and the?essence?of Jiading's cultural roots.
"The themed post office will promote Nanxiang?xiaolongbao, while also helping publicize Jiading's high-quality resources, long history, and rich culture across the country, as well as abroad," according to an official of the China?Post?Nanxiang branch.
Local authorities said that the innovative business model is Jiading's first attempt to integrate traditional postal services with intangible cultural items, which will help Jiading set up its own cultural icon.
