The Jin State Museum, the first large-scale ruins and relics museum in Shanxi province, is expected to open to the public with a total investment amounting to 198 million yuan ($32.23 million), to record the history of the Jin State in the Western Zhou Dynasty (c.11th century–771 BC).

The museum is being built taking information from the Qucun-Tianma site - a national key cultural relics protection unit, built on the border of Quwo county and Yicheng county, covering an area of over 10 square kilometers, with construction having started on August 31, 2009.

According to Sun Yonghe, the previous head of Shanxi's Quwo cultural relics bureau, there are three major halls in the museum: the Jin State historical exhibition hall, which shows the visitors a period of history which flourished for over 600 years; the exploration and excavation exhibition hall, recording the archaeological history of more than half a century; and the protection hall, which displays the tomb and chariot relics of the Jin State.

"Jin State Museum is the first large scale relics museum in Shanxi province to display the full historical and cultural character of the Jin State," Sun added.
