An exhibition of ancient China's shuilu painting got under way on Aug 15 at Lvshun Museum in Dalian, Northeast China's Liaoning province, according to chinanews.com.

The exhibition, cosponsored by Lvshun museum and Shanxi Museum, will run until Oct 12.

Some 80 shuilu paintings collected by Shanxi Museum will be on display, dating back to Ming (1368-1644) and Qing (1644-1911) dynasties, including 10 shuilu paintings from Baoning Temple.

Shuilu paintings are often found in the Buddhist religion depicting grand religious rituals. There are only 139 works of shuilu paintings from Baoning Temple in existence, making them highly desirable.

Baoning Temple's shuilu paintings often depict god and karma, reflecting social values at the time. The works' layout, bright colors, intricate portraiture and bold strokes have made them precious collections over time.
