Apart from the average annual salary of RMB54,000, which is much more than the RMB29,000 income earned by private company workers, employees of State-owned companies receive another half of their income through off-payroll channels such as bonus and subsidies, data from the China Household Finance Survey suggested. Analysts say Stated-owned monopoly industries make money easily because they have the advantage of resources of communication, electric power and energy, New Financial Observer reported.

Premier Li Keqiang met with Klaus Schwab, executive chairman of the World Economic Forum (WEF), Monday evening in Dalian, people.com.cn reported. Li said holding the upcoming Summer Davos in Dalian mirrors global attention and confidence in China. Li also thanked Schwab for his commitment and praised his strategic choice. The 7th Summer Davos will open on Sept 11 in Dalian. Li will deliver a speech at the opening ceremony of the forum and meet with foreign leaders attending the forum.

巴格達(dá)限行防汽車(chē)炸彈
Baghdad's security command center has begun to restrict traffic in a bid to combat a spate of car bombs, AFP reported. The move allows cars with even and odd license numbers to take daily turns to go out. The measure can bar half the capital's vehicle traffic from taking to the streets, so the security command can check all the cars in the city without causing huge crowds at checkpoints. At least a dozen car bombs struck across Baghdad on Sept 2, killing 47 people and wounding 163 others.

With Tokyo's successful bid for the 2020 Summer Olympics, Japanese professor Yasuo Hazaki is spearheading (領(lǐng)導(dǎo)) an effort to add his chosen sport - hide-and-seek - to the 2020 Games, foreign media reported. "I want to encourage sport for all, regardless of age, gender or ability," he said. "When you watch sport now, it's all about world-beating skills," said the 64-year-old Hazaki. He has even set rules for the game, pitting 2 teams of 7 players against each other in a 10-minute match. In each 5-minute half, one team is given 2 minutes to hide.(See photo)

A man in Brazil developed what doctors have called pathological (病理學(xué)的) generosity, after a stroke damaged parts of his brain causing his behavior to change, the Daily Mail of London reported. The 49-year-old began to give away money, food and drinks excessively after a stroke disrupted the part of his brain related to higher thinking and decision-making. The man said he had worked enough and that it was time to "enjoy life which is too short." He wanted to "be in high spirits" from then onwards.
