ANNECY - The Chinese delegation claimed two gold, one silver and two bronze medals at the 2nd International Military Sports Council (CISM) World Winter Games which closed Friday in Annecy, a city in the southeast of France, ranking 6th in the medal table.

The top five are occupied by France, Italy, Switzerland, Russia and Austria.

All of China's medals were won in short track speed skating events. On Wednesday, a gold and a silver were secured in men's 500-meter; on Thursday, China was awarded another three medals - a gold and a bronze for men's 1500-meter, and a bronze for women's 1500-meter.

Nearly 1,000 participants from 40 countries and regions competed in biathlon, indoor sport climbing, ski orienteering, patrol race, short-track speed skating, Nordic skiing, alpine skiing, ski mountaineering and cross-country skiing in four venues in the Haute-Savoie region from Monday to Friday. Among the participants there were top athletes, including world champions and Olympic medalists.

China was ranked the 3rd in the medal table, with three gold and seven silver medals, at the first CISM World Winter Games held in Italy March, 2010.
