8,314 suggestions made during first session of 14th NPC
A total of 2,144 deputies and 23 delegations made 8,314 suggestions during the first session of the 14th National People's Congress, China's top legislature, in March.
Nearly half of all suggestions concerned the creation of a new development pattern and the promotion of high-quality development, about 16 percent were about the people's well-being and quality of life, and approximately 12 percent were related to the strategy for invigorating China through science and education and the development of a strong workforce for the modernization drive, according to a meeting on the handling of these suggestions held in Beijing on Tuesday.
Li Hongzhong, a member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and vice chairman of the NPC Standing Committee, said at the meeting that the handling of the suggestions has been assigned to 204 units.
Li urged the units to turn high-quality suggestions into policies and measures that facilitate reform and development.
