Transportation services across Guangdong province began gradually resuming Wednesday evening after the landfall of Typhoon Ragasa, the 18th typhoon of the year, according to railway and airport authorities.

Ragasa made landfall at about 5 pm on Wednesday along the coast of Hailing Island in Yangjiang, Guangdong, triggering strong winds and huge waves in the area around the Hailing Island Bridge.

At the time of landfall, Ragasa was classified as a typhoon with level 13-intensity. At its peak, it had reached a strength exceeding level 17.

Train operations within Guangdong were expected to gradually resume at midnight as Ragasa's intensity weakened, according to China Railway Guangzhou Group.

Operations at Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport were quickly returning to normal, as arrivals gradually resumed on Wednesday evening, according to authorities.

Shenzhen's airports resumed flight operations starting at 8 pm on Wednesday. As of 4 pm, flights had already departed from other locations bound for Shenzhen, with arrivals expected later in the evening.
