Fei Dongbin, former head of the National Railway Administration, has been expelled from the Communist Party of China and dismissed from public office for serious violations of Party disciplines and illegal acts, China's top anti-corruption watchdogs announced on Friday.

In June, the CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and the National Commission of Supervision launched an investigation into Fei's irregularities, finding him engaged in speculative and opportunistic practices, colluding with political swindlers, and resisting organizational inspections.

He arranged for others to provide long-term transportation services for his family members; failed to report personally relevant matters as required; and sought benefits for others in the selection and appointment of cadres, the commissions said.

Fei also engaged in rampant power-for-money deals, exploiting his positional advantages to secure benefits for others in areas such as enterprise operations, project contracting, and post adjustments. In return, he accepted enormous amounts of property, the commissions added.

They noted that they decided to expel Fei from the Party and remove him from public office because he seriously violated the Party's discipline.

They added that his case and confiscated illicit gains have also been transferred to procuratorial organs for review and prosecution.

Fei, 55, is a native of Jinzhou, Liaoning province. He started working in 1991 and joined the CPC in 1996. Having long served in the railway sector, Fei began his career at the Shenyang railway bureau in Liaoning in August 1991, where he later held positions, including deputy director and chief engineer.

After 2017, he successively served as mayor and Party chief of Ulaanqab, Inner Mongolia autonomous region, and vice-governor of Henan province. In September 2022, he was appointed head of the National Railway Administration.
